Israel Announces Plans to Build National Broadband Network

Israel has a tech industry that is rapidly improving and improving yet again but it's broadband infrastructure hasn't been able to keep pace. In broadband penetration Israel ranks 21st out of 34 developed nations according to OECD. Well all this might be about to change as the country's state-run electric company has now announced it's plans to to create a new national broadband network using FTTH( Fiber to the Home) technology, which can attain speeds between 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps. This would come out at ten to 100 times faster than the connections most Israelis have today and could seriously help the country. The company is aiming to have 10 percent of the country connected to the new network by next year and to have two-thirds covered in the next seven years.
