Nintendo, NTT DoCoMo testing DS-powered speech translator
There are rumors that Nintendo and NTT DoCoMo are teaming up to create a voice-to-text system that will help hearing-impaired kids study among other things. Using a modified DSI, speech turns into text which is stored into the cloud- which can later be retrieved as a learning aid. In this way teachers can have their words ready in a matter of seconds rather than minutes. This voice software may also be used to improve interactive games. Trials of the system are being held in Tottori and Okinawa Prefectures for the overall aim of using it for a universal translator. While it may not quite be like Siri who's to say it wouldn't be cool?
